So Where is Rossett?

Origins   Rossett is apparently made up of two words, hors or hros (horse) and set (settlement).

It has also been called Yr Orsedd "The High (or Judgement) Seat" - I think I remember that being on a finger post in Holt, years ago.

Others say that it may be a corruption of "Y Rhosydd" - the marsh or bog

Rossett is located in some beautiful countryside through which there are plenty of good walks. The landscape is essentially flat for some 10 miles to the east & north & hills rise almost immediately to the south and west. The River Alyn runs from the north-west and around the south and east of the village before emptying into the River Dee some 5 miles away in the village of Holt.
